Munich

Munich is Germany's most... golden city: friendly, clean, green and with an inexplicably chill mood. It's the city that wears a dirndl with zero irony, serves beer by the litre and loves living outdoors (and not just during Oktoberfest).

Its heart beats in Marienplatz, where the famous clock dances every day as if to say "Grüß Gott!". The English Garden is a bit like Bavaria's Central Park: perfect for cycling, picnics and... surfing! Yes, you read that right. On the little Eisbach wave you'll spot surfers in wetsuits riding a wave right in the middle of the river. Urban legend stuff.

The food is pure comfort: sausages, pretzels, knödel and, of course, schnitzel with rivers of beer. In beer halls like the Hofbräuhaus you'll feel like a local, even if you've only just landed.
