Will I pay anything extra at the hotel (tourist tax, deposit)?

Yes. In many cases there is an extra cost paid directly at the hotel, in line with local law and the property's policies.

1. Tourist tax (city tax)

Tourist tax is never included in the package price. It is a compulsory local tax and it is paid:

• at reception, at check-in or check-out
• The amount differs by country and hotel category

2. Security deposit

Some hotels ask for a deposit against damage or extra charges (minibar, room service and so on). Usually:

• an amount is held on your card, and
• it is released after check-out, as long as there are no extra charges

Whether a deposit is required depends entirely on the hotel and is stated in the property policy.
